Building the Nursery...

Go ahead and call me Martha Stewart... I made my nursery bedding!  When I say "I" made it, it was really my amazing sister-in-law Heather!!  She kept offering to help me make it, but I was so apprehensive.  One, I can't sew.  I think the last time I had sewn was in 7th grade in Mrs Ogden's class.  And second of all, I had no vision.  I had been looking all over online trying to decide what I liked and wanted, but I just figured I would just buy it.  Less work and less stress right?!  Well I finally decided that Heather and I would just make it.  I went to JoAnn's and bought some fabrics that I loved.  I am just so grateful for Heather's help!  We just started cutting and sewing and just went to town!  We ended up making his crib bedding, bumper, and bedskirt, throw pillows, curtains, and I made a quilt for the very first time!!
These pictures were taken a little over a month ago, I didn't really want any face shots because, well I hadn't gotten ready in like 3 days.... it's a pretty common thing when I don't have to work.

The throw pillows we made... I love them!!

I made this quilt out of the left over scraps, I was just trying to decide what to put where...

This is Heather working on the crib bumper...

more piece work...

See how professional we are... two sewing machines!! It's proof I really did learn to sew!!  We look so serious!

The finished bumper...

My patchwork for the night... I still had to add a border and minky on the back...

We finished the quilt today and I love it!!  So now I am so excited to set up his nursery!  I will post pictures once we setup and finish his room.  I just want to thank Heather once again!  It really was fun to learn how to be all crafty and domestic!!  I honestly love this bedding more than anything I would have ordered online, and we made it!

Love One Another

I saw this video on facebook and I loved it, very fitting for Valentine's Day... I tried adding it to my Valentine's post but I failed so I have two different posts now!

My Valentine...

This year my hubby taught me to never complain about "not getting flowers on Valentines Day"...

Jason has never been a fan of Valentines Day.  He feels that you should treat your wife good everyday not just on a holiday.  Which if you really know Jason he really does spoil me rotten so I can't complain!  He will send me flowers randomly all through the year, and not a day goes by where he does not dote on me.  So he just doesn't like to make a fuss over Valentines Day.

This year about a week before Valentine's Day I kept saying stuff to him how "I never get flowers on Valentine's Day" and just being a brat...  I know hard to imagine me being a brat right?! It must be the pregnancy haha!

Saturday night our ward did a Valentine's dinner and dance, which was so much fun!  We got out there on the dance floor and was doing some mad dance moves!  They had Dove chocolates(my favorite) on our table, and they have the cute messages inside the wrappers.  I opened mine and it said "Be your own Valentine" and I read it out loud to our table, which was Jason's Parents, his sister Tiffany and her husband, and my little brother JJ and his date.  I explained how fitting it is this year, and how my husband hates Valentines day.  To my surprise the whole table already knew that Jason had a huge surprise planned for me and they had to bite their tongues.

Monday night Jason was gone playing volleyball with some friends.  I was over at his parents house, and I was talking with Alan and just making a complete fool of myself even more.  I asked if he knew his son was a Valentine hater!?

Well Valentine's Day arrives.  Before Jason left for work he knelt down to say prayers together and I just thought it was so early, but I never open my eyes.  I get to the salon at 10:30am and this is what my station looks like...

It's hard to tell in this picture because it was taken with my camera phone but there are 120 Gerber Daisies!!  They are my favorite flowers!  I walked in and almost died!!  It looked like a flower shop at my station!!  Spoiled is an understatement.

Jason had ordered these flowers online the week before, and had been storing them in his parent's second refrigerator.  Meanwhile, I keep saying how much he hates Valentines to his whole family and just making a complete fool of myself because his whole family knew that their fridge was stuffed full of flowers for me!!  He woke up at 5:45am and went to the salon early that morning before he went to work.  So that explains why I thought it was so early when he was trying to say prayers with me.  So my two lessons learned- don't be a brat, and don't complain about flowers on Valentine's ever again.

Later that day we also got a couples massage from St George Day Spa which was amazing.  They have this pillow for pregnant ladies so you can lay on your belly, and that alone was a slice of heaven!!

We came home and Jason made me chocolate covered strawberries which were delicious.  I inhaled them so fast and then I thought to myself, self, I should have taken a picture of those for my blog!!

I feel so blessed to have a husband like Jason.  I am beyond spoiled!  I love him so much, he is my best friend and can't wait for many more Valentine's to come.

All in a week...

Last week Jason had some work meetings in Atlanta so I went with him just for fun.  I pretty much just slept in the hotel room while he worked, but I am not complaining... it was nice to do nothing!  When we returned back to St George we were down 4 animals!  Ditto's, Hopper, Whiskers, and a pigeon.

Meet Ditto's...
My in-laws have owned Ditto's for about 7 years.  Even though she is tiny, she is pretty much the toughest dog alive!  She was not afraid of anything.  She also had an obsession with shoes.  If you were ever at my in-laws house and your shoe was missing, you could just go look in Ditto's bed and sure enough there was your shoe!  Ditto's would be all cuddled up to your shoe and she would get so mad when you went to take it back.  An older couple from Mesquite wanted to purchase her so my in-laws sold her.  Ditto's is going to love all the extra attention so we know she will be happy!
So that was animal number one gone...

We are currently living in my in-laws casita in their backyard.  My husband and his Dad love chickens.  So we currently have approximately 42 chickens in our backyard.  We go out everyday and collect their eggs.  They also have like three gardens and bees.  It's a pretty cool setup not going to lie.  Jason and I purchased 20 baby chickens last August.  So we were able to watch half of them grow up!  A few months ago either a raccoon or a fox tried to attack our baby chickens through the wire fence.  He killed one of our babies, and one chicken survived, but he was now missing a leg.  He was so tough.  He seemed to manage just fine too.  So we named him Hopper!  While we were gone apparently the other chickens ganged up on Hopper and killed him.  Sad true story.  These are not actual pictures of Hopper, these are courtesy of google images.  So that is our second animal down...

Our next victim is Whiskers!  About November last year a client text me because she knows I am such a cat lover.  Her and her husband had found a baby kitten abandoned on Bluff street.  She wanted to know if I would take it!  I thought it would be fun to surprise my Mom with a new kitty.  So I sent the kitty to my Mom's house.  She didn't think it was too funny so she sent it back down to me a few weeks later.  I really didn't want the kitty with a new baby coming in April.  He was just a baby, he wouldn't go outside, and he wouldn't play nice with the Trask cats.  So he was always indoors.  During this time we would fight a lot.  We had such a love hate relationship.  Gorgeous kitty, but I swear he was part devil.

He would not stay out of our Christmas tree when it was up...

He loved to take naps in our bathroom sink...

He was not afraid of water, yes he would come in the shower with us...

He was part dog... he would try and drink from the toilet which was so beyond gross.  So I tried dropping the lid on him and that didn't even phase him!

He also went missing when we were in Atlanta.  I miss his little face now!  He was doing so good on sleeping outside and playing with the other cats.  Our property goes way back to the river, and in the past the Trask's have never named their cats because the coyotes will eat them.  So since he has been gone for over a week I am thinking the coyotes got to him.  So Whisker's is our 3rd missing animal!

These pictures are cute just because it's Whisker's and Ditto's together!

And last but not least... the pigeon.  We returned to St George Sat evening.  We were hungry so we decided to go to Cafe Rio for dinner.  Alan and Linda were coming with us, and they were in our back seat.  It was dark outside, and we were just a few blocks from our house when Jason swerved but his back tires hit something and we felt a bump!  It was a really sad sick feeling.  Jason had accidentally ran over a pigeon!  It was late, so what was a pigeon doing walking in the road!?  He must have been suicidal!  Alan was like "What was that?!" because he felt it!  It made Jason so sick!  On our way home from dinner we stopped, because I am disgusting like that and wanted to make sure he was dead.  Sure enough he was dead.  Hopefully he died fast!  Poor little pigeon.  So that makes our 4th animal in one week!  Thanks to google images you can see what the little guy looked like!

Here is to hoping we have better luck with our Animals at the Trask home!!
