Weekend in Vegas

Last Friday my cousin Adam Mason got married in Vegas, so we drove down Friday evening for his reception.  It was an outdoor reception, by a pool, gorgeous home, gorgeous everything but I couldn't keep my eyes off my little boy.  I just love him to pieces!  We dressed him in a purple and white pin striped shirt, with an argyle sweater (courtesy of Mallory) and these little denim distressed jeans.   He looked like such a high roller!!  He looks like such a little man!  I wish I had taken better pics, these were just taken with my ipad.

Saturday morning I went and got a massage as my Mother's Day present from Jason, which was just pure heaven.  It's so nice to lay on my belly again!
My sister is less than two weeks away from having her second baby, a little girl.  So the majority of our Saturday was helping her build the nursery and get things organized.  Of course when I say we, I really mean Jason.  I know my sister is way grateful that he spent his Saturday building a crib, dresser, hanging curtains and etc.
Saturday evening Jason surprised me with an early birthday present... Phantom of the Opera tickets!! I had seen it about 5 years ago and I loved it.  The Phantom is leaving Las Vegas in September and Jason knew I really wanted to see it again before it left.  So it was way fun to get all dressed up.  We went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner, which if you haven't tried their red velvet cake cheesecake... oh my gosh.  Amazing!!  Pretty sure it's my new favorite.  Then we went to the Phantom!! It was better than I remembered.  My husband is pretty much the best husband ever!! I love him so much, I truly am so blessed with my little family.  Life is good.

Depoe Bay Oregon

What 5 week old baby goes on vacation... Crew does.  We were so excited to take Crew on his first plane ride!  My parents went up to Depoe Bay Oregon for a week,  so Jason, Crew, and I flew up on Wed May 9th and stayed until Friday.  It was a really chill and relaxing vacation.

Crew's first plane ride...

We made sure his pacifier was in his mouth for take off and landing... and he seriously did amazing!! He slept the entire way!!  We flew from St George to Salt Lake and then Salt Lake to Portland.

Once we landed in Portland my parents picked us up and it was a 2 hour car ride to Depoe Bay.  We stayed at a Wyndham resort right on the ocean.  Once we got there we put Crew in a chair to see the ocean...

Too bad Crew was sleeping and didn't really care to see the ocean.

Views from our resort

Views the next morning, it was gorgeous!  A little on the chilly side, but gorgeous!

These are the stairs inside the lighthouse, over 100.  We had to go see the view from the top!

View from the top of the light house.

My vacations are always based on the food... seriously every meal was so yummy.  This was right off the ocean and I had to try some fresh fish and chips!

Then a little stop for some Tillamook Ice Cream... amazing!  Umm Jason is holding my chocolate peanut butter ice cream, his was massive, and yes he put it all away!

Next stop was a outdoor aquarium.  Jason and the fish having a moment haha!

This creeps me out, you can pet star fish and all sorts of living fish in here...

Again, another food photo.  This picture doesn't do it justice, but this was the best clam chowder I have ever tried!!!  Thanks Jack's for your yummy food!

My parents saw this the day before we got there... LOVE it!!!

Goodbye Oregon, time to fly home!

Crew was such an amazing traveler.  Hopefully he can keep that up!

Once we landed in Salt Lake Friday evening, we drove to Toph and Whitney's new home in West Jordan.  It was so fun to see their new house, new car, and their new dog...(So spoiled right?!)  Toph got up Saturday morning and made a huge breakfast as part of his Mother's Day gift since he wouldn't see Mom on Mother's Day.  He made waffles, hash browns, and bacon.  After breakfast we drove down to Saratoga Springs to watch Kamryn's soccer game.  Leaving the soccer game we passed a new park, Jason insisted we stop to play.  You can see the kid in my husband come out... I love it!

Ya that's Jason on the top!!

Topher playing on the equipment too!

Jason, Topher, and Carson

Boston... I just love this kid!

Kamryn and my brother Michael

Jason and Toph being silly

I was peer pressured into climbing this thing... I was cursing and swearing the whole way up, but I made it to the top!

Once we made it back to my parent's home in Aurora, my Grandma Carol (My Dad's Mom) came over.  This is her 30th great grandchild.  So precious!

Newborn Pics

We feel pretty lucky to have a photographer in the family! Thanks to Heather, she took some adorable pictures of Crew when he was just a week old.  Crew is such a good baby, he never cries except for when he is hungry, or when he is naked.  Crew got really upset when we took his clothes off, and then he just kept wanting to eat so we only got a few good shots that day.  Thanks so much Heather for your patience and thanks so much for taking these pictures!

Crew Kelly Trask

My labor story...
I thought I was mentally prepared for labor, I had talked to my sister, my sister in laws, parents, friends.  I was so wrong.  My labor story is so not normal though.

Jason and I went to the hospital during his lunch hour because I was having contractions so we decided to go get checked.  I was dilated to a 4 and 80% thinned.  I thought for sure they were going to send me home.  My Doctor wanted to keep me.  I remember the nurse saying, "You are going to meet your baby today!" I freaked out a little... It was becoming more real.  My whole pregnancy I kept telling my Doctor how I wanted to deliver vaginally, and he was concerned because I was measuring big the whole pregnancy, and how small I was.  I was not  too worried...  My Mom had 6 children all vaginally and she had huge babies!  (I was 8 lbs 3 oz!)  So I just was hoping I was able to have babies easier like her.
I was all for the epidural from the start.  My nurse asked if I wanted my epidural before or after they break my water.  My water was already leaking, but the Doctor had to come finish the job.  I chose before hoping it would mean less pain!  Well two epidurals later, and neither one was working.  Also,  Crew's head was turned sideways and so my nurse had me get on my hands and knees and rock, trying to get Crew to turn his head.  No luck.  My anesthesiologist was giving me blocks of lidocaine trying to numb my pain.  The numbing would last about 40 minutes, and the hospital was not allowed to give me more until the hour mark.  So the last twenty minutes of every hour was brutal.  This went on for 5 hours with just lidocaine.  I was dilated to a 9, but Crew's head was still turned.  My nurse wanted me to try and push anyways, and hope he would come out.  I remember pushing and pushing and then the nurse would say "no change" it was so depressing...  After a total of 14 hours my Doctor ordered a C-Section.  At this point I was relieved, just happy to know the end was in sight.  However my Anesthesiologist was concerned with my epidurals not working, he was afraid I would feel them cut into me.  His concerns were valid... as soon as they started the C-Section I could feel them cut... so they immediately put me under general anesthesia.  It took me about 5 hours to really come off the anesthesia.  I remember trying to wake up and look at Crew.  I was totally bummed that I missed the first everything.  I had hired a friend to take pictures of the birth, and she turned it into a video too, so I so happy to have all that footage.  So these are our hospital pictures...

Friday April 6, 2012 Crew Kelly Trask arrived into this world.  6:51am, 6 lbs 14 oz, 20 1/4 inches long.  He is so perfect!  We are still getting the hang of things being parents, but I can't even imagine our lives without him.

This is getting hooked up, I was in shock that I was going to be having a baby!!

Jason holding me while I got my first epidural...

This was my nurse holding me for epidural number 2...

This was the nurse who told me they were going to keep me... I loved her!!
