Cancun

We have been wanting to take a little vacation for so long.  Every time we would plan a trip one of us would get sick.  Well finally last weekend we took a little family vacation, and Crew got another stamp in his passport!  Spoiled little boy.  Jason's friend from work Trent Moss and his wife Bonnie came with us too.  It was fun having them come with us!  We left Saturday morning on the 6am flight, which meant we had to be at the St George airport a little after 5am... that was the only bad thing about this vacation.  We flew to Salt Lake and then switched planes and flew direct to Cancun.  Crew seriously is such a champ!  He travels so good!  He would sleep, wake up and I would give him cheerios, or he would watch Toy Story on the iPad.  Random people kept telling us how well he travels.  I think that was like his 8th trip?  We want him to travel well so he can keep coming with!  He is getting at that age though where it's hard to hold still, so I am a little nervous about future trips.  We landed Sat evening in Cancun, found our rental car, and headed towards our hotel.  We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, nothing fancy at all, but for $51 a night with free breakfast we were excited! The first night we just went to a little hole in the wall next to a flea market for dinner.  Then we browsed the flea markets for a little bit then we were all ready for bed!
Sunday we woke up and left the hotel by 8:15am, Jason had map quest where a LDS branch was.  He had been to this branch a few years back with his parents and he wanted us to experience it.  We were doing a 3 hour car ride today down to Chichen Itza, and this little branch was on the way.  Sadly the branch was not there.  So we didn't get to experience it on this trip.  So we just kept driving to Chichen Itza.  We took the free roads down there, it makes you slow down through all their little towns.  Speed bumps would pop up out of the middle of no where.  To see how people lived was truly humbling. We are so blessed.  We stopped at some random gas station, because being pregnant I have no bladder. This was the first stop of many where I had to pay to go pee!  And the bathrooms are nasty, but what do you do?  Finally, we made it to Chichen Itza! We spent hours walking around and seeing all the old ruins.  This place was huge, and never ended.  It's a pretty cool place.  Some of the ruins looked like they came out of a Book of Mormon story.  They had "Book of Mormon" tours you could take there but we didn't.  After we left Chichen Itza we drove just up the street to a complete hole in the wall, but that was probably the best meal on the trip!  A husband and wife owned the place, they grilled the chicken on the street in front of you, served it with rice, cabbage, and avocado.  So so yummy!  The husband and wife kept holding Crew and they just loved him.  So grateful Jason is able to speak fluent Spanish, I just smile and nod at everything!  Driving home we took the "toll road" which ended up costing us around $35 but it was worth it not to have to do the speed bumps again, and it shaved an hour off our time!
Monday was a very relaxing day, we just went to the beach.  It was overcast that day so we didn't get tons of sun, just enough to bring home a sunburn!  Jason was holding Crew at the beach, and we had lathered him up with SPF 50, so later that day we noticed half of Jason's chest was sunburned, and half was not burned at all, and he even had a hand mark on his arm where Crew had held onto him!  We went into downtown Cancun later to find another authentic Mexican restaurant.  My vacations are always about the food sadly!  I love food too much!  We hit up more flea markets, Bonnie was bound to find some vanilla to take home with her.
Tuesday morning our vacation had come to an end.  We had breakfast, and left for the airport.  It started sprinkling and was overcast again.  Cancun was gorgeous and I would love to go back!  Traveling home took forever.  We flew from Cancun to Houston, then Houston to SLC, then SLC to St George.  On the last plane ride Crew was so over traveling, but he still traveled so well!  We had a really fun trip, and coming home we made planes that we shouldn't have made. I am so grateful for the opportunity to travel and see the world, we are pretty spoiled!

Crew leaving the SLC airport headed to Cancun!!

Crew and I at Chichen Itza

The best hole in the wall restaurant in Chichen Itza!  This lady and her hubby loved Crew!

Driving home from Chichen Itza, he was all tuckered out!  Look how old he looks in his tank top and shorts!! My baby is growing up too fast!!

First time at the beach!

I just love his chubby feet!

Crew fell asleep on the beach...

Had his first Pina Colada

Every meal would come with limes, and he would suck on them!! That's not normal!

My little Mexican baby!

Playing at the hotel out by the pool, he is such a ham for the camera!

Cancun as we were leaving, it was all overcast.
